Epstein's former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation last week and charged with a number of offences after being accused of assisting Epstein's abuse of minors by helping to recruit and groom victims known to be underage. Prosecutors have asked a judge to schedule a Friday court appearance in Manhattan federal court for for Maxwell.

"Ghislaine thought she was untouchable - that she'd be protected by the intelligence communities she and Jeffrey helped with information: the Israeli intelligence services, and Les Wexner, who has given millions to Israel; by Prince Andrew, President Clinton and even by President Trump, who was well-known to be an acquaintance of her and Epstein's", he said. "We decline to comment further", the Federal Bureau of Prisons told Fox News. She did not enter a plea and agreed to be brought to NY to face six felony counts including conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts and perjury, according to legal filings.

For more than a year though was considered the worlds most wanted women, although she has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

An indictment made public last week said Maxwell facilitated Epstein's crimes by "helping Epstein to recruit, groom, and ultimately abuse" girls as young as 14.

She also appears to have raked in "substantial income" from the 2016 sale of a NY home for $15 million through a limited liability company, the filing said. Maxwell is also accused of lying to investigators.

In a letter on Sunday to Judge Alison Nathan at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of NY, acting United States Attorney Audrey Strauss said Maxwell's defense lawyer, Christian Everdell, has requested a Friday, July 10, bail hearing.

Prosecutors wrote in a July 5 letter to U.S. District Court Judge Alison Nathan that they consulted with Maxwell's lawyer, Christian Everdell, for a bail hearing to take place on July 10. In Aug. 2019, Epstein officially died by suicide in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan. The New York City Medical Examiner's office ruled that Epstein killed himself via hanging, although his death has become the subject of much scrutiny and speculation.
