Sony's announcement of the new content was a little unclear, referring to Miles Morales as "a new adventure" during its reveal event, rather than a new title.

Fans eager to dawn the red mask again don't have to wait long as developer Insomniac Games announced that a sequel will launch with the PS5.

It did seem pretty soon for a proper sequel, given only two years have passed since Marvel's Spider-Man's release - but the fact that Sony isn't sure about what it's publishing doesn't inspire confidence for its ability to communicate key information around the PS5 in the coming months. It is a brand-new, standalone game similar in scope to Uncharted: "Lost Legacy". While it likely uses most of the map from the original title, it's still a very respectable feat. Miles is, of course, a playable side character from the 2018 game as well as one of the most popular Spidey characters from the Marvel comic-book universe.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is now set to be released in the holiday season of 2020.

The PlayStation 5 has been officially revealed in last night's The Future of Gaming event hosted by Sony.

Insomniac finally clarified that Miles Morales is a standalone game on Friday. He also said, "There's a substantial Miles Morales component-which is the expansion element..." It appears that most of the story will focus on Miles Morales' origin, and Peter Parker passing the torch. In an interview with the Telegraph he called Miles Morales "an expansion and an enhancement to the previous game". With PS5's ultra-fast SSD, players can near-instantaneously fast-travel across Marvel's New York City, or feel the tension of each one of Miles's web-swings, punches, web shots, and venom blasts with the DualSense wireless controller's haptic feedback. He now resides in NY writing for BGR.
